Maggie recently got
The Elf on the Shelf. This is an old tradition that has become popular again in the last few years. The elf comes with a book, which explains that the child cannot touch or talk to the elf. The elf is a scout for Santa and reports back to him nightly about the child's behavior. Then when the child wakes up in the morning, he/she has to find him because he moves to a different spot in the house every night.

Maggie named her elf "Elliott". We've already registered him online and printed out his adoption certificate! Maggie is adamant that she does not want him to go back to the North Pole after Christmas. Today as she laid down for her nap, she said that she wanted to pray for her elf! (We've never said prayers at nap time before.) I told her okay . . . I was anxious to hear what she was going to pray. She bowed her head, clasped her hands, and said "God is great, God is good. Amen." Love it!
So far the elf has been a great reminder for Maggie to obey and follow directions!
