Everyone says that children make Christmas more fun, but they make birthdays more fun, too! Maggie just could not contain her excitement about the birthday cake and wanted to blow out the candles NOW! So, we blew out a few candles (and ate a little cake!) before supper. . .

. . . and then blew out more candles and ate more cake
after supper . . .

Maggie has been able to sing "Happy Birthday" for quite a while, but for my birthday, she added a little bit to the song. Instead of singing "Happy birthday to you," she sang, "Happy birthday to you,
Mama!" and then pointed to me. When my dad got ready to say the blessing before supper, Maggie jumped right in and beat him to it. She clasped her hands and said, "God is great, Amen!" (She's been saying "Amen" for a long time, but this was the first time she added her blessing to it.) She also successfully used the potty tonight before bath time . . . I'm not the only one getting older!!
My niece Andi was also very excited about my birthday and decorated our house to surprise me, complete with posters she drew, headbands, leis, confetti, and party horns!

It was a very happy birthday and new year, indeed!
