-Maggie can identify all of the letters of the alphabet, except for "I" and "T".
-Maggie has always had pretty clear articulation, but it has gotten even better this month. She is now saying "Maggie" correctly (previously she said, "Mad-ney"), along with "help" (previously pronounced as "hope"), and r-blend sounds, such as the "gr" in "Grandma" (previously pronounced as "Amma"). I don't want her to grow up too quickly, so I'm not going to help her correct the way she says "Ring Around the Rosy"- "Ping Apound the Posy"!
It's hard to remember all the cute things Maggie says, but here are the ones I've written down:
-The most common word Maggie says is probably "no", but the second one is "not yet". Even if we're going to do something fun that day, Maggie will say "not yet" because she knows she has to eat breakfast and get dressed first!
-One day Maggie told Brendon: "Brendon, it's so good to see you! Miss you!"
-I asked Maggie, "What's in your pocket?" She showed me her hand and said, "Kisses!"
-I only work 2 mornings a week, but Maggie is sure to tell me, "I miss you at work."
-A few weeks ago I had a meeting at church one night, and Brendon put Maggie to sleep. Almost every day sense then Maggie tells me, "I miss you at church." She even acted it out in the bathtub one night with her doll. Maggie told the baby, "I miss you at church." Then she made the baby say, "Wah, wah!" Maggie wrapped the baby in a washcloth and told her, "I take care of you."
-Maggie has a love/hate relationship with Biscuit. One day she told him, "I so glad" Hmm, not sure what she's glad about!
-As Maggie decorated an Easter bonnet at Memo's house, she pulled out some ribbon and said, "Measure, measure, measure" Maybe she'll be a tailor or designer!
-Maggie LOVES the movie "Annie" and watches the DVD on all long car trips. For a while she's been able to sing "Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow", but just this week she has added more of the lyrics. She sings, "Tomorrow, tomorrow, I love you, tomorrow, . . .only a day away. . . day . . . gray . . .lonely . . .stick out chin . . . grin . . . say . . ." When I ask her, "What does Ms. Hannigan sing?", she says, "Little girls, little girls!" Maggie has even started incorporating some of the characters into her pretend play. Last week when she was playing in her playhouse, she said, "Where's Ms. Hannigan?" That night in the bathtub, she started talking about two of the orphans from the movie. She said, "Hi, Pepper. Hi, Molly. See you soon."
-Every morning for about the last week, Maggie asks me, "What are we doing today?" We have routine activities every week (story time, gymnastics, etc.), so she's anxious to find out what we're doing that day. One day I told her, "We're staying home today." Without missing a beat, she said, "What about next week?"
-On Easter at church we sang a song that repeated the word "Alleluia". There was also a banner at the front of the church with the word on it. When we told Maggie what it said, she enjoyed repeating the word, pronouncing it, "All-le-lula!"
-One of the biggest physical changes in Maggie this month is how long and curly her hair has gotten. She looks so different from her 2 year pictures that were taken a little over a month ago!
