Maggie has shown a lot of interest in her Bible lately (Click here to see a picture of her holding it as a newborn). She takes it off her bookshelf, and turns to the pictures in the front and back. These pictures remind me of the illustrations in my Sunday school growing up. They appear to be paintings of Jesus and other Biblical figures, not cartoon illustrations geared towards kids. I've pointed out Jesus in the pictures, but have left it at that. I have also taught her a few of my favorite children's songs: "The B-I-B-L-E", "Jesus Loves Me", and "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands".
Yesterday after being in the nursery during the worship service, she walked into church and looked toward the back, above the doorway where a painting of Jesus hangs (a totally different picture than those in her Bible and a painting which I've never pointed out to Maggie). She pointed at it and said "Jesus!" Those within earshot were stunned to hear an 18-month-old identify Jesus. He truly does love all the little children!
