Children's Day 2012

For at least 50 years, the first Sunday in June at my church is Children's Day, where the children and youth lead the worship service (usually through music).  I have many fond memories of the Children's Day musicals I was in growing up.  Almost 30 years ago, in 1983, we performed "Down By the Creek Bank".

Today I was so proud of Maggie, as she performed in her very first Children's Day in the same musical- "Down By the Creek Bank".

My mom and I have been helping the preschoolers learn two songs for the performance.  During yesterday's practice with the older children, however, we were shocked to see that they knew a lot more than those two songs, and they wanted to stand with the big kids for the whole performance!   Lately Maggie has acted very clingy and shy, but today she shined on stage!  She was not the least bit afraid to perform in front of a full church.  All of the kids did a wonderful job.  Here they are performing the first song, "Down By the Creek Bank".  You can tell that Maggie is the daughter of a speech-language pathologist.  Her articulation was so clear and exaggerated!  (Click on the lower right corner of each video to make them full screen.)

Here's Maggie practicing before church today:

Holly, thank you for documenting this. What a rich heritage we have. What a blessing to see Maggie all these years later doing the same thing I saw you do as a kid. i'm sure God must have allowed Mom to take a peek from heaven to see that this year.
