Delicious & Nutritious

Maggie and I spent the Fourth of July with my parents, helping them shuck, clean, and freeze corn from their garden (Brendon had to work). Maggie helped shuck a few ears, and we even taught her to say, "Aww, shucks!" She was fascinated by the silks and worms!

When Maggie got a little bored with this task, we picked blueberries from my dad's bushes:
Maggie helped pick the blueberries that were on the low branches, and then she started eating berries out of my bucket faster than I could pick them!

Later in the afternoon we took home 75 ears of corn (out of the 430 ears they pulled!). I froze some on the cob, but I cream styled most of it.

This picture is for you, Uncle Keith and Brendon!

The fresh cream-style corn was so tasty, but Maggie got upset at supper when I put that on her plate, instead of a cob! So, Brendon quickly cooked a fresh ear of corn for her.

In the last week she's also had a fresh carrot out of my parents' garden . . .

(We taught her to say, "What's up, Doc?")

. . . and she ate honey for the first time when my parents' harvested their bees' honey:
5 gallon buckets of honey being strained

It's so easy to eat healthy in the summer. . . even for dessert! We made a new recipe this summer: zucchini brownies. "Delicious and nutritious!" as Maggie would say!
