We recently had Maggie's 5-year-old cousin Natalie over for a few days before she starts school next month. The girls were so sweet together, and I enjoyed having someone else entertain Maggie for a little while so I could get a few things done around the house!
First on the agenda was going to our local theatre to see a production of "Alice in Wonderland", starring children from the community. Maggie and Natalie wore their matching dresses that Memo (Brendon's mom) gave them.

My mom and Andi joined us at the play.

The girls' eyes were glued to the stage. Natalie, in particular, said she enjoyed watching the kids dance. After the play we got ice cream.

That night after their baths, Maggie and Natalie took turns brushing each others' hair:

Then they snuggled together to watch some "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" before bedtime.

They both sat on my lap to hear bedtime stories, but Maggie did not want to separate from Natalie to go to bed! The next morning Brendon and Maggie made blueberry pancakes:

Maggie woke up at her usual time of 7:30 and anxiously awaited for Natalie to wake up at 10:00! After breakfast the girls got very involved in playing dress-up. Natalie pretended to be the Statue of Liberty, and Maggie copied her (complete with clown nose)!

When they were each wearing Cinderella dresses, I told them that they looked like "Big Alice" and "Little Alice" from the "Alice in Wonderland" play they saw the day before. Natalie remembered a lot of the plot, dialogue, and songs from the play, so they acted out parts of the play in Maggie's room. We even picked out different stuffed animals to be the Mad Hatter, the March Hare, and Twiddle-Dee and Twiddle-Dum. Maggie remembers this activity with Natalie and has played "Alice in Wonderland" since then on her own.

Maggie cried and cried when we took Natalie home. I foresee a lot more slumber parties together in their future! I hope Maggie continues to be as close with her first cousins as I am to my one and only first cousin!
